My current role is as a Data Dictionary Content Analyst at a major multinational bank within its Data Services team.
This means that in my day to day life at work I help businesses and functions across the bank to develop definitions, and other metadata, about their Critical Data Elements (CDEs). I have frequent meetings with each of the businesses and functions that I engage with and with their assigned Business Data Architecture (BDA) modeller. In these meetings I guide the business or function towards meeting the group standards for content within our business glossary. This involves leading meetings, taking actions, and ensuring that each CDE definition aligns with the standards that we have developed.
Alongside the engagement meetings that I run, I am always reviewing any content submitted for publication, meaning that the content must meet our minimum metadata standards. My current role is very varied, my day to day tasks can range from reviewing content, to helping design, test, and roll out dashboards to report on progress, or even writing new standards for data. Each part of my role involves working closely with others who can be based around the world, working to tight schedules, and the ability to quickly change priorities as demands change.
The environment within which I currently work is very changeable as we are continuously trying to improve our standards and meet deadlines. This makes it a very demanding, but also rewarding, role to be based in, as the impact of my work can be seen quickly.
